Once upon a time, there was this boy who did not think before he spoke. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him to drive 1 nail into the garden fence every time he hurts someone with his words.



The first day, he drove 24 nails into the fence. In the following weeks, the number of nails he drives into the fence gets lower every day. The boy found out that it was easier to think before he spoke than to drive nails into the fence.



At last, the day came when the boy did not have to drive any nails into the fence. Then he goes to his father and tells him that he did not have to hammer any nails into the fence. His father then tells him to take one nail out of the fence for every day he did not hurt anyone with his words. Many days passed and finally the boy can tell his father that he has taken all nails out of the fence.



The father brought him to the fence and told him:" My son, you have behaved well. But look how many holes you have left in the fence."
